Hello Friends, It’s Pat Lahey. It’s been almost two years since I last wrote, and a lot has happened at the Wilmette Park District. The next election isn’t until April 2027, and I plan to send only four emails over the next six months, so I hope you’ll stick around. Local elections matter. Email One: Wilmette Park District Feasibility Study Take the Future of Recreation Survey (closes Oct. 28) Over the last two years, the district has tackled a number of deferred maintenance projects on aging infrastructure. These spot fixes have affected programming and the need for them isn’t slowing down. After a search in which nearly a dozen firms submitted proposals, the district hired Wight & Company to conduct a feasibility study and master plan for the CRC, Centennial, and Big Tree Lane properties. As part of that process, Wight created a preliminary interest form, talked with about 1,000 residents at the Block Party, and has now released this survey. Surveys can’t answer every question, but they give the district an important early look at how you use our facilities and what you want for the future. The district wants and needs your voice to shape its future, for you and future generations. The survey ends October 28th, so please find some time before then.
